Connect your assistant
Connecting Koywe takes two steps: you add the server in your assistant and then you authorize it from Koywe. There are no keys to copy: you sign in to Koywe as usual.
Before you start
- A Koywe account with access to the organization you want to connect.
- An MCP-compatible assistant that lets you add remote servers (sometimes called custom connectors). Depending on your plan, your workspace admin may have to enable it.
| Environment | Server address |
|---|---|
| Production (for now, look-ups only) | https://mcp.koywe.com/mcp |
| Sandbox (look-ups and test operations) | https://mcp-sandbox.koywe.com/mcp |
You can connect both at once with different names, for example koywe and koywe-sandbox.
1. Add Koywe in your assistant
The fastest way: ask your assistant
Many assistants and agents (for example, Claude Code or Cursor) can add connectors on their own. Give it the address and ask it to add Koywe:
Add Koywe as an MCP connector:
https://mcp.koywe.com/mcp
You’ll still need to authorize the connection in Koywe (step 2). If your assistant doesn’t see the connector, restart it: Claude Desktop and Claude Code sometimes need it.
Add it manually
If your assistant can’t do it on its own, the process is the same in almost all of them:
- Add a custom MCP server (or connector).
- Paste the server address.
- Sign in to Koywe when the assistant asks you to.
Open the example for your assistant. Menus change often: if you can’t find an option, search for “connectors” or “MCP” in its settings.
Claude (claude.ai and Claude Desktop)
Go to Settings → Connectors, choose Add custom connector, paste https://mcp.koywe.com/mcp and click Connect. The connector also shows up in Claude Desktop and the mobile app with the same account.
ChatGPT
In Settings → Apps & Connectors, create a connector with the address https://mcp.koywe.com/mcp and OAuth authentication. Authorize it in Koywe when ChatGPT asks you to and, once it finishes reading the tools, click Create. Depending on your plan, you may first have to turn on developer mode in the advanced settings, or your workspace admin may have to enable it.
Claude Code
claude mcp add --transport http koywe https://mcp.koywe.com/mcpThen type /mcp, choose koywe and then Authenticate.
Cursor
Add this to ~/.cursor/mcp.json, open Settings → MCP (or Tools & MCP), find koywe and click Login.
{
"mcpServers": {
"koywe": { "url": "https://mcp.koywe.com/mcp" }
}
}VS Code
Add this to .vscode/mcp.json and click Start above the server.
{
"servers": {
"koywe": { "type": "http", "url": "https://mcp.koywe.com/mcp" }
}
}Using Grok or another assistant? Follow the three steps above with the server address; if its settings don’t offer a way to add a remote MCP server, it isn’t compatible yet.
2. Authorize the connection in Koywe
Your assistant opens a Koywe page titled Connect an AI assistant.
Sign in
Sign in to Koywe.
Choose what to share
- Organization: one per connection.
- Merchants (your businesses): Specific (up to 25) or All, which also includes businesses added later.
- Permissions: View information is always included; the rest are optional. Anything that moves money out or adds an account waits until you confirm it in Koywe. See what each one allows.
Authorize
Click Authorize. Koywe takes you back to your assistant and the connection is ready.
If you didn’t start the connection, click Cancel. It’s normal to see Unverified client or Returns to a program on your computer if you just connected from ChatGPT or an editor. No one from Koywe will ever ask you to authorize an assistant.
3. Test the connection
Ask your assistant something, for example:
- “What’s my balance in each business?”
- “What’s waiting for my approval?”
If it answers with your data, you’re connected. If not, see Troubleshooting.
How long the connection lasts
The connection lasts 24 hours from when you authorize it; after that, you repeat step 2. Each connection is for one organization: if you work with several, add the server once for each, with different names. To see or close your connections, see Connected apps.
